Volunteer for Us:

By supporting the work of the Hull Seaside Animal Rescue as a volunteer, you can help our homeless animals. We are looking for people to help us with a variety of programs, ranging from hands-on care of kittens and fostering homeless cats to providing humane education or helping with one of our many community events or outreach programs.

Adoption Days:
We need volunteers to help us participate in area Pet Adoption Days. Volunteers will transport pets to adoption facility and interact with the public throughout the day, answering their questions, screening them as possible pet owners, etc. This will require one weekend day, approximately once a month, depending on the number of participating volunteers and pets needing homes.

Animal Care Giver:
Responsibilities may include cleaning the kennel, answering animal related inquiries from the public, exercising and socializing animals, or performing general office functions. Days and hours vary.

Canister Caretaker:
Be responsible for one or more donation canisters at local businesses. Your duties will include contacting area merchants, collecting canister contents, maintaining accounts, and submitting monthly donation records to our Treasurer.

Donation Drives:
Help us contact area businesses and service organizations to obtain donations of much-needed pet products such as food, litter and grooming goods. Once a month, we need volunteers to help us host pet product "donation drives" at area supermarkets.

Event Planning/Fundraising:
Since our organization is non-profit and receives no financial support from the government, we rely upon our fundraising events to help us generate community awareness and finance our various programs. Current events include Pet Rock, Be Kind To Animals Week & Hull Summer Carnival. We are always looking for new event and/or fundraising ideas, and energetic people to lead these activities!

Feral Cat Caretaking & Adopt a Colony Program:
The Hull Seaside Animal Rescue is working with our Animal Control Officer to help trap, neuter, vaccinate, and return our feral cat population. We are in dire need of people to help us trap the ferals and take care of them for a few days while they recover from surgery. Also, we would like to insitute an adopt-a-feral colony program, which would encourage people to adopt a local feral cat colony, build care-taking stations, feed the cats on a daily basis and alert us to any changes in the colony (kittens, strays joining, etc.)

Grantwriting:
Grants are one of the most important means of financing a non-profit group’s endeavors. By receiving grants, we hope to acquire enough funds to build or buy a space for our shelter. We need help researching grant opportunities via the web, prioritizing those opportunities and answering RFP’s/writing proposals.

Community Outreach:

Does your pet love people?
If so, we would like you and your dog to visit a local nursing home, school or similar facility on a regular basis? Your dog should be at least one year of age, spayed/neutered, healthy, well trained, and enjoy socializing with people of all ages.

Do you like to work with children?
If so, we’d love for you and your dog to work with children in our area. Through simple presentations, you can teach proper pet care and responsibility to young children and spark their interest in animal welfare. Your dog should be at least one year of age, spayed/neutered, healthy, well trained, and work well with children and crowds.

Pet Fostering: We are always in need of temporary foster homes for newborn kittens, cats who need special medical attention, and homeless cats and dogs. Foster parents are needed to house, feed and care for these animals while we try to find them new homes. This commitment can range from 8 –12 weeks.

Newsletter:
Help us put out a monthly newsletter, in both electronic and printed form! We need people to submit articles, solicit ideas and coordinate overall production. This will require about 10 hours per month and will require basic computer and internet skills (M/S Word, Email, Internet).

Volunteer Fairs:
We are always looking for new members and volunteers. Represent our group at area Volunteer Fairs and help us find energetic people who love animals

Armchair Fundraiser – how you can help with the minimum of effort:

Swear Jar: Does your household’s vocabulary rival that of the Osbornes? If so, charge $.25 for every swear & turn over the proceeds to HSAR once a month!

Casual Fridays: Is your company reluctant to allow its employees to wear jeans on Fridays? Tell them it’s for a good cause and charge your coworkers $5.00 to wear jeans. Colleagues pay the receptionist as they enter the office in the morning.

Office Candy Jar: Put a candy jar on your desk along with a separate jar for donations – allow your colleagues to take candy in exchange for donations towards replenishing the supply & the extra will go to HSAR!
